Adult Social Care: Consultation Phase (now closed)
On 24 February 2010 we published a consultation paper on adult social care, which contains our detailed proposals for law reform. The consultation period for this project closed on 1 July 2010. For further information or if you have any comments on our review, please contact us.
On 12 July 2010 the Department of Health published the White Paper, Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS. In the white paper, the Government mentions the Law Commission's review of adult social care and states that:
- As a key component of a lasting settlement for the social care system, we will reform and consolidate the law underpinning adult social care, working with the Law Commission.
- The Government will bring together the conclusions of the Law Commission and the Commission on funding of long-term care, along with our vision, into a White Paper in 2011, with a view to introducing legislation in the second session of this Parliament to establish a sustainable legal and financial framework for adult social care.
The full white paper is available.
