Safeguarding the public by regulating health and social care professionals – Highly Commended paper

Tim Spencer-Lane, the lead lawyer on our review of the regulation of health and social care professionals, has been recognised by the 2015 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence.

His paper, Safeguarding the public by regulating health and social care professionals: lessons from Mid-Staffordshire and the Law Commission review, was Highly Commended in the awards. Published in the Journal of Adult Protection, the paper considers the final report of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry and the review we conducted with the Scottish Law Commission of health and social care professional regulation. It looks at the recommendations made by the Inquiry and the Government’s initial response to it, and considers the responses we received to the provisional proposals we made in our consultation.
